Keeping three year olds engaged
Three year olds love stories, characters and being given a job. Ask them to choose the colour of their butterfly, decide which princess or prince they are, or help put the class teddy to sleep at the end. Small choices like these keep them invested in the class.
Structure still matters. Keep the same opening and closing every week and change the middle gradually, adding one new skill at a time.
Ready-made classes for 3 year olds
Dancing Dots syllabuses are built around exactly this approach. Each class follows a familiar routine with a character at its heart, and each activity has development notes for children who are ready for more. Music and teacher videos are included for every activity.
