Bridging preschool and graded classes
By four, most children can skip, gallop, balance briefly and remember a short routine. This is the moment to introduce the vocabulary they'll use in graded classes — first position, pliés, rises, port de bras, shuffles and basic hip hop grooves — while keeping the imaginative feel of a preschool class.
- Skipping and gallops, including sideways gallops in pairs
- Pliés, rises and simple port de bras in first position
- Short combinations remembered without the teacher leading every step
- Performing for parents at an open class or showcase
Why this age matters for retention
A child who finishes preschool confident and proud is far more likely to move into your graded and examination classes. A consistent, well-planned preschool programme gives parents a clear reason to stay.
How Dancing Dots helps
Activities in each syllabus include notes marked for ages 3–5, such as pliés, rises and port de bras in Ballerina Bear, so older children are stretched in the same class as younger ones. The included reward charts and character branding make progress visible to families.
